                                                                             SUMMARY:

People all around the world want to switch to an alternative source to power their house, but it is too overwhelming. There are so many choices to choose from. For example, Wind, Hydroelectric, Geothermal, all of these are good energy sources but to choose one is a tough decision. Because of this debate, most people just decide to throw away the idea of choosing an alternative energy source. If you do pick one of the listed sources, start off slow to see how it goes. Start off by doing the simplest thing of all; cut down on your electricity you use now. Using less energy will make it easier to provide your own. In the picture, that house is using solar power. Solar power is a good alternative energy source but it has its downfalls. For example, the panels will not generate electricity if it is a cloudy day and the sun is not out. You really have to trust the area you live in before switching to solar power. A positive thing about solar power is that if you generate more electricity than you use, the government will pay you. You need to think about your decision and research the area you live in.

                                                                        REFLECTION:

I agree with this article that it is overwhelming to make a big switch to an alternative energy resource. I think that people should definitely invest in new technology like solar panels. We learned in class that we are running out of coal and oil and need to find an alternative energy resource. People need to stop worrying about the negatives and think about the positives. For example, they are getting one step closer to saving the world. I say this because they are cutting down on coal and oil use, and influencing people around them to do the same. If people all around the world switch to alternative energy resource, we will be able to save a lot of coal and oil and stop polluting the world.

                                                                      QUESTIONS:

1) Do you think it is overwhelming to switch to an alternative energy resource?
2) What are some choices people have to switch to?
3) What are some pros and cons of solar power?
4) Do you think it is possible for everybody to switch to an alternative energy resource at any time?

  1. Sorry it took so long for me to blog :p

  2. Yes, it is definitely overwhelming to make the switch to alternative energies. I think one of the major problems with switching is the cost. It's mostly free to use alternative energies after installing them, however, installing them is very expensive. Also, you have to consider the area that you live in as well. On the plus side though, they have so many advantages compared to fossil fuels. And, like we learned in class, people can get paid for making extra energy for the community.

    1. Yes, I think its overwhelming.
    2. People have to consider costs, damaging property, and the area they live in.
    4. It really depends where you live. So, it could go either way.

I agree with this article. It would be very tough and overwhelming to switch to alternative energy because there are so many options to choose from. In class we learned about just some of them, and there was so much information, just in the overview that we did. It is important to take into account all of the factors such as price environmental effect, and reliability when you are choosing. I can see how this could become super confusing and discourage people from wanting to switch to alternative energy.

    Questions
1)Yes, because there is so many to choose from and they all have different pros and cons.
2)People can switch to geothermal, solar, nuclear, or biomass.
4)No, because most alternative energy sources have high initial costs, even though they pay off in the long run. With the low economy, not everybody has the money to spend on alternative energy, right away.

  4. I can understand how people can feel overwhelmed in a decision to use alternate energy. If you don't know the area you live in then it is kind of hard to tell if you shoould try an altenrnative. It is also very expensive in the beginning to install but are relatively cheap to operate. Although they do more good than harm to the invironment. Like the Amanda and kyle said, you can get paid for generating more energy than you need.

1)Yes, I think trying to switch to an alternate energy source is overwhelming and difficult to do.
    2)Solar, Geothermal, Wind, Hydroelectric

  5. It is probably super overwhelming to switch to an alternative energy source for many reasons. The first is probably just because it is change. Nobody likes change. While what people have may be fine for them, they don’t see the long-term effects it has on the environment. Cost is also important. People don’t like to spend money. While alternative energy in the long run is cheaper, most sources have a big cost for instillation. In addition, in class we learned that there are so many different kinds of alternative energy; people don’t know which one to choose. I learned that they are all different and have different pros and cons. It can be tough, so people are usually discouraged from switching to alternative energy.

    1. Yes, because there is cost and lots of choices and affects.
    2. Geothermal, hydropower, solar, nuclear
    4. No, because they are costly at first and not everyone has a lot of money. Also, in some locations there are not many good sources for alternative energy so it is tough.

  6. i dont believe that picking an alternative resource is so overwhelming that they cant choose one. not to say that it is not difficult, but just saying it is not too tough. i feel they may be making a bigger deal than what it is. the main thing is choosing a different way to get the same energy and to not choose any because you are overwhelmed with the amount of chooses you are given, seems to me to be a bit selfish. if you can afford the installation for alternative resources you should switch b/c you will altimately save money in the long run.

    1. yes, but not so overwhelming you cant choose
    2. solar, wind, biomass, geothermal
    3. pros- clean energy no by-products
4.no not everyone has the money for instilation or the space
