Reflection:
To be honest this is probably one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of. I mean can you ever think of a time where you couldn't drink the water that came out of your faucet. I went up to my uncle's cabin in upstate New York and the water was "hard" but we could still drink it if we had to. In China it has gotten to the point that you have to boil the water first to be able to drink and that still is a little questionable. Personally though I still think it's their own fault, I guess that is what you get when you have that much industry.
Questions:
1) How much of the water is completely unusable?
2) How much of the water usable for industrial processes but not drinkable?
3) How many major metropolises saw acid rain?
4) Why do you think it has gotten this bad and do you think it will get any better?
I just find this saddening. The fact that we have just about an unlimited supply of water that is perfectly clean and we still drink from water bottles while places like China can’t even use the water they have for industrial uses. I know that personally when going to practices or just out I grab a water bottle, not reusable one or even when I do it doesn’t come from the tap it is filtered. I would like to stop that, but it is just convenient and easier to just grab a water bottle from the refrigerator. Also, I think that China should be trying harder to stop the pollution from all the factories.
ReplyDelete1. One fourth of the water
2. One half
3. 200
4. The excessive amounts of factory pollutions have caused such matters but if China continues down this path I don’t think it will get much better much faster
Obviously a lot of these problems in China have to deal with their huge industry. I guess they didn't really care or pay attention when they had a good supply of water. However, it will only become worse if they don't try to stop it. I couldn't even imagine having to boil water before drinking it. I mean its probably not that hard for them since they are so used to it, but here in America we just have tons and tons of water to use. I am probably so careless with the amounts of water I use everyday. I don't try to, however, I have just been spoiled with as much water as I want. We could all take a few minutes shower, but we stay in there for double maybe triple the amount of time we should. Honestly, my use of water is very wasteful and I could do something about it. America doesn't really need to focus in on water as a major problem as much as China. They really needs to step in and figure this out. This eventually will become severe problem.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 1: 1/4 is completely unusable
Question 2: 1/2 is used for industrial purposes, but not drinkable
Question 3: 200 metropolises saw acid rain
Question 4: I think this problem has gotten so bad because the government really hasn't done much about it. If the water just keeps getting worse, obviously the people don't care that much. Human and industrial wastes have contaminated the water and it just keeps building up. I feel that it will take a long period of time before anything will get better so they must take action now.

ReplyDeleteI think that it is very sad that China has such poor water quality. The fact that a quarter of their water cannot event be used for industrial purposes is crazy. I never knew that there were requirements for industrial water. There are so many, people, yet such little drinking water in China. I find it very sad that this is the way life is. In America, we take for granted the fact that we can have clean water flowing out of our faucets at the turn of a nozzle and we can drink it. To think that half of the water in China cannot be drunk is so surprising, and disappointing. I also find the amount of water that Americans waste very angering. Not only do we take long showers, and keep the water running while we brush our teeth, but many Americans drink out of water bottle. I know that I bring a plastic water bottle to school every day, just because it is quicker, and more convenient than filling up a reusable bottle with tap water. Americans are taking water from other countries just because it tastes better, while there are places like China that cannot even drink their tap water. Something needs to be done to improve China’s water quality. Water should be a top priority, instead of industrialization.
ReplyDelete1) 1/4 of the water is completely unusable.
2) ½ can be used for industry, but not drinking.
3) 200 major Chinese metropolises have experienced acid rain.
4) I think that the quality has gotten this bad because China has been more focused on creating factories, and making money by selling their products around the world than keeping their water clean. I think that the conditions will improve if the Chinese government takes steps in the right direction to make purifying their water a top priority.
I also think it is sad that China has such a bad water supply. It is ridiculous that we use so much water that we do not need in America while people in china are suffering. I do not think it is entirely their fault for their terrible water supply, but I do know they can do something to make it better. At my house, I know that we have clean tap water because of the lab we did at school. Although it is clean, it is more convenient to drink bottled water. Almost every day I bring a bottled water to school when I could be using a reusable bottle filled with tap water. Since there are so many people in China and a limited amount of clean water, they definitely need to focus on the problem. If they fail to accomplish this, China will run out of water and their population would decrease rapidly.

4) I think it has gotten this bad because China is creating too many factories when they should be focusing on their water supply. In reality, I do not think the water is going to get any better because the problem is already so severe. Also if people are drinking the limited fresh water they do have in China, it will run out eventually.
